S. M. Noor Uddin

Managing Director & CEO, Summit Bibiyana Power Company Ltd

S. M. Noor Uddin is the Managing Director & CEO of Summit Bibiyana Power Company Ltd., a joint venture between Summit Corporation Ltd. and GE Energy. 

He is a seasoned energy and power sector professional with over four decades of experience in power generation, transmission, and infrastructure development. Since joining Summit in 2009 as Chief Executive Officer (CEO), he has played a pivotal role in shaping the company’s large-scale infrastructure portfolio—most notably leading the successful bids for the two combined cycle power plants, Summit Bibiyana Power Company Ltd (341 MW) and Summit Meghnaghat I Power Company Ltd (335 MW) power projects.

Beyond his current leadership role, he also serves as Director in multiple key projects, including: Summit Meghnaghat I Power Company Limited (335 MW), Summit Barisal Power Limited (110 MW) and Summit Narayanganj II Power Limited (115 MW).

Before joining Summit, Mr. Noor Uddin was the Director of Operations at BON Consortium Power Company Limited (495 MW IPP) from 2006 to 2009, where he led significant project development initiatives.

His professional journey began at SIEMENS Bangladesh Ltd., a subsidiary of Germany's Siemens AG, where he served for over 23 years (1983–2006). Rising through engineering and senior leadership roles, he ultimately became Director and Head of the Power Generation, Transmission & Transportation Group. During his tenure, he made instrumental contributions to national power generation and transmission infrastructure, and earned multiple accolades—including SIEMENS “Extra Plus for Success” Awards in 2004 and 2005 for exemplary business growth and asset management.

Mr. Noor Uddin holds both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Electrical & Electronic Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). He further advanced his management credentials through an Executive MBA Program in 1996, conducted jointly by Duke University (USA), Mount Elizabeth Business Faculty (Australia), and Siemens AG (Germany). He also participated in numerous global leadership, marketing, and business management programs, including at Siemens Global Leadership Centre (GLC), Feldafing, Germany.

His professional affiliations include a long-standing involvement with IEEE USA, Bangladesh Chapter, where he served in several key capacities: Chairman, IEEE Power Engineering Society, Bangladesh Section, Secretary General, IEEE Bangladesh, Chairman, IEEE GOLD, and Vice Chairman, Illumination Society of Bangladesh.

He has received Certificates of Honor from BUET and IEEE Bangladesh Section for his impactful technical lectures and thought leadership between 1995 and 2003.

Born in Mirsarai, Chattogram, Mr. Noor Uddin is a committed family man. They are blessed with three accomplished daughters—two MBAs from Dhaka University and North South University respectively, and the youngest an engineer currently pursuing her Master’s in Artificial Intelligence at the University of Delaware.

Rooted in his birthplace of Mirsarai, Mr. Noor Uddin is a committed advocate for social welfare. As Vice-Chairman of the Mirsarai Professional Society, he leads efforts to improve rural infrastructure, expand healthcare access, and support the underprivileged through government-backed initiatives. An avid lover of music, travel, and table tennis, Mr. Noor Uddin brings a global perspective to his work, enriched by visits to over 25 countries including the USA, Germany, France, Switzerland, China, Netherlands, Australia, UAE, Malaysia and South Africa.
