Statement on Personal Tax Return of Khan Family
Muhammed Aziz Khan, Anjuman Aziz Khan, and Ayesha Aziz Khan have noted several news releases concerning an inquiry report by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC). We learned of these actions entirely through the media reports. We are committed to cooperating fully with any official legal process.
The monetary figures cited in the newspaper reports, i.e. Tk 330.94 crore for Muhammed Aziz Khan, Tk 92.62 crore for Anjuman Aziz Khan, and Tk 287.43 crore for Ayesha Aziz Khan (overstated by exactly Tk 3 crores), correspond precisely to the assets that have been regularly, consistently, and transparently declared in their respective individual income tax returns filed with the National Board of Revenue (NBR) in Bangladesh.
These income tax returns are comprehensive documents that not only list assets but also explicitly provide the detailed source of every earning. Therefore, the allegations of "misdeclaration," "inconsistency," or a "mismatch" between declared income and assets are fundamentally misplaced. The reported figures are the declared figures in the tax returns.
The media reports correctly notes that no information on immovable property is available in the name of Muhammed Aziz Khan. This is accurate because Mr. Khan does not own any immovable property in his personal capacity, and thus no such declaration was required or filed in his income tax returns.
The media reports include broad-brush, ambiguous, and generalized accusations of "syphoning money out of the country" or acquiring wealth by "transferring money abroad." These are serious allegations that should not be made by the media while there is a lack of any specific basis or evidence provided in the public domain and prior to any completed judicial process.
Muhammed Aziz Khan, Anjuman Aziz Khan and Ayesha Aziz Khan have always reported and filed all state requirements in strict compliance with all applicable local and international laws, including the laws of Bangladesh.

আয়কর রিটার্নকেন্দ্রীক গণমাধ্যমে প্রকাশিত সংবাদের বিষয়ে প্রতিক্রিয়া জানিয়েছেন সামিট গ্রুপের চেয়ারম্যান মুহাম্মদ আজিজ খান, তার স্ত্রী আঞ্জুমান আজিজ খান এবং কন্যা আয়েশা আজিজ খান।
দুদকের আয়কর রিটার্ন সংশ্লিষ্ট তদন্তসংক্রান্ত যেসব সংবাদ প্রকাশিত হয়েছে, সে বিষয়ে সামিট গ্রুপের চেয়ারম্যান মুহাম্মদ আজিজ খান, তার স্ত্রী আঞ্জুমান আজিজ খান এবং কন্যা আয়েশা আজিজ খান সম্পূর্ণভাবে গণমাধ্যমের মাধ্যমেই অবগত হয়েছেন। পাশাপাশি যেকোনো সরকারি ও আইনি প্রক্রিয়ায় পূর্ণ সহযোগিতার অঙ্গীকারও ব্যক্ত করেন তারা।
প্রতিবেদনে যেসব আয়কর রিটার্ন আর্থিক পরিসংখ্যান উল্লেখ করা হয়েছে—মুহাম্মদ আজিজ খানের ক্ষেত্রে ৩৩০ কোটি ৯৪ লাখ টাকা, আঞ্জুমান আজিজ খানের ৯২ কোটি ৬২ লাখ টাকা এবং আয়েশা আজিজ খানের ক্ষেত্রে ২৮৭ কোটি ৪৩ লাখ টাকা (প্রতিবেদনে যেখানে ৩ কোটি টাকা বেশি দেখানো হয়েছে)—এই পরিমাণগুলো বাংলাদেশের জাতীয় রাজস্ব বোর্ডে (এনবিআর) দাখিল করা তাদের নিজ নিজ আয়কর রিটার্নে নিয়মিত, ধারাবাহিক ও স্বচ্ছভাবে ঘোষিত সম্পদের সঙ্গেই পুরোপুরি মিলে যায়।
উক্ত আয়কর রিটার্নসমূহ কেবল সম্পদের তালিকা নয়; প্রতিটি আয়ের উৎসের বিস্তারিত ও স্পষ্ট বিবরণ সেখানে অন্তর্ভুক্ত রয়েছে। সুতরাং ঘোষিত আয় ও সম্পদের মধ্যে ‘ভুল ঘোষণা (misdeclaration)’, ‘অসামঞ্জস্য (inconsistency)’ অথবা ‘অমিল (mismatch)’ থাকার যে অভিযোগ করা হচ্ছে, তা মূলত ভিত্তিহীন ও বিভ্রান্তিকর। সংবাদে উল্লেখিত অঙ্কসমূহই আয়কর রিটার্নে নিয়মিতভাবে ঘোষিত প্রকৃত অঙ্ক।
সংবাদমাধ্যমের প্রতিবেদনে যথাযথভাবেই উল্লেখ করা হয়েছে যে মুহাম্মদ আজিজ খানের নামে কোনো স্থাবর সম্পত্তি সংক্রান্ত তথ্য পাওয়া যায়নি। এটি সঠিক, কারণ ব্যক্তিগতভাবে তার মালিকানায় কোনো স্থাবর সম্পত্তি নেই। ফলে এ বিষয়ে আয়কর রিটার্নে কোনো ঘোষণা দেওয়ার প্রয়োজন ছিল না এবং সে অনুযায়ী কোনো ঘোষণাও দাখিল করা হয়নি।
সংবাদমাধ্যমের প্রতিবেদনে ‘দেশের বাইরে অর্থ পাচার’ কিংবা ‘বিদেশে অর্থ স্থানান্তরের মাধ্যমে সম্পদ অর্জন’-সংক্রান্ত কিছু ব্যাপক, অস্পষ্ট ও সাধারণীকৃত অভিযোগ উত্থাপন করা হয়েছে। এ ধরনের অভিযোগ অত্যন্ত গুরুতর; অথচ জনসমক্ষে কোনো নির্দিষ্ট ভিত্তি বা প্রমাণ উপস্থাপন না করেই এবং কোনো বিচারিক প্রক্রিয়া সম্পন্ন হওয়ার আগেই সংবাদমাধ্যমে এমন অভিযোগ সমীচীন নয়।
